Joanna Kay Dickerson, a sophomore at Mize Attendance Center, has been invited to join the class of 2022 at the Mississippi School for Mathematics & Science (MSMS) in Columbus, MS. She has accepted the invention and will begin classes at MSMS in the Fall of 2020.
According to the MSMS website, “MSMS was ranked the sixth Best Public School in the United States out of 18,841 public schools and faculty were ranked No. 1 for the second year in a row among 18,504 public high schools. It is the second year in a row for MSMS to be named among the top 10.”
Joanna is the daughter of Rainey and Tara Dickerson of Mize, MS. She is the granddaughter of James and Teresa Cole of Magee and John and Sandy Dickerson of New Hebron.
Joanna has been a student at Mize Attendance Center for 10 years, and received exemplary recommendations from her teachers and counselor. Joanna is a member of the Mize Student Council and the Beta Club. In 2019, Joanna performed dual roles in the Awestruck Community Theatre’s production of Poe: Dreams of Madness. Additionally, Joanna has provided community service for Encompass Health-Hospice.
Joanna has been working toward the goal of attending MSMS for several years. Upon graduation from high school, Joanna plans to pursue a degree in Forensic Biology.
