Jimmy Lewis Ashmore, Sr., 69 of Mendenhall, Mississippi passed away from his earthly home to his heavenly home on Wednesday, July 12, 2023, at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson, Mississippi. He was born on Tuesday, July 28, 1953 in Greenwood, Mississippi.
Visitation will be held on Friday, July 14, 2023, from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at Overflow Church in Magee, Mississippi.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 14, 2023, at 3:00 p.m. at Overflow Church in Magee, Mississippi. The burial will follow in Mendenhall City Cemetery in Mendenhall, Mississippi. Bro. Matthew Temple will officiate. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Magee is in charge of arrangements. 601-849-5031
Mr. Jimmy was a member of Overflow Church in Magee, Mississippi. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, son, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. He enjoyed working in his garden, hunting and fishing, but most of all spending time with his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his son, Dustin Ashmore; father, Henry Lewis Ashmore; and mother, Eva Ruth Compton Ainsworth.
Survivors include his loving wife of fifty-one years, Belinda Ashmore of Mendenhall, MS; one son, Jimmy Ashmore, Jr. of Mendenhall, MS; three grandchildren, Faith Lee Ashmore of Mendenhall, MS, Dustin Karl Ashmore of Puckett, MS and Lauren Green of Mendenhall, MS; two great-grandchildren, Fisher Sharp of Mendenhall, MS and Beau Carney of Mendenhall, MS; four brothers, Marvin Douglas Ashmore of Magee, MS, Terry Ashmore (Carol) of AL, Charles Ainsworth (Jan) of TN and Stanley Ainsworth (Debra) of Seminary, MS; two sisters, Brenda Ainsworth of Seminary, MS and Marilyn Chase (Alan) of Magee, MS; a special cousin that was like a brother, Jimmy Bryant of Mendenhall, MS; and a host of other family members.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
