James Robert Bankston, 83, of Magee, Mississippi, passed away Monday, April 22nd at Magee General Hospital in Magee. He was born Saturday, May 11, 1935.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 24, 2019 from 10:00 AM until 2:00 PM at Dry Creek Baptist Church in Magee.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, April 24, 2019 at 2:00 PM at Dry Creek Baptist Church in Magee. The Burial will follow in Dry Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. Bro. Joe Metts and Bro. Jonathan Burnham will officiate. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Magee is in charge of arrangements. (601) 849-5031.
He was a member of Dry Creek Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and Sunday school teacher. He was a factory worker at Magnatek for 33 years and worked at Magee Courier after his retirement.
He was preceded in death by parents, Chester Bankston and Louie Lell Bankston; brother, Jack Bankston.
Survivors include his wife, Zelda Bankston, daughters, Jenelle Blackwell (Robbie), Jean Craft (Eric), Valarie Amason (Greg), Dana Hall (Tim); grandchildren, Megan Jones, Kayla Griffith (Justin), Andrew Amason, Luke Amason, Jacob Hall, Natalee Hall; great-grandchild, Maggie Griffith; two step grandsons; three step grand-greatchildren; brother, Tommy Bankston, sister, Mary Sims; a host of nieces and nephews.
