James Q.  (Jimmy) Holbrook of Magee, Mississippi

James Q.  (Jimmy) Holbrook of Magee, MS passed away from his earthly life to his heavenly home on September 3, 2025. He was 88 years old. He was born to John Davis (J.D.) Holbrook and Myrtle Cleo Grubbs Holbrook on September 9, 1936.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 6, 2025 from 8:00 A.M. until 10:00 A.M. at First Baptist Church of Magee. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 06, 2025 at 10:00 A.M. at First Baptist Church of Magee. Burial will follow in Sharon Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Magee, MS. Dr. Ryan Wade and Dr. Buddy Keyes will officiate. Special music will be performed by Bro. Lance Word. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Magee is in charge of arrangements. 601-849-5031
Mr. Holbrook was born and raised in the Rials Creek Community and graduated from Pinola High School. After high school, he attended Mississippi State University. It was after this time that he met and married the love of his life, Elliott (Bo) Stubbs Holbrook.
He worked for 43 years for the Illinois Central Gulf Railroad. After retiring from the railroad, he spent his days managing the timber on his land and cutting the grass of his yard.
He was an active member of First Baptist Church of Magee where he served as a deacon and was a Sunday School teacher for 37 years. He participated in mission trips to Montana for 20 years where he used his carpentry skills to assist in building churches. He was also a member of the Gideons International for 39 years. In his spare time, he enjoyed watching high school games.
He was a caring husband, father, and friend who will be remembered as a hardworking and faithful man who loved his friends, loved his family, and most of all his faith.  He was preceded in death by his parents, John Davis (J.D.) Holbrook and Myrtle Cleo Grubbs Holbrook; his sisters, Theresa  Duckworth and Dollie (Dot) Crawford, and his brothers, Durwood (Buddy) Holbrook and John  Earl  Holbrook;  He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Elliott (Bo) Stubbs  Holbrook, his son, David  Holbrook, and host of nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Gideons International.
Pallbearers will be Randy Crawford, Herman Duckworth, Josh Duckworth, Allen Osborn, Jerry Walker, and Larry White.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy Holbrook Sunday School Class.
