James David “Bull” Dampeer, 70 of Mendenhall, Mississippi passed from his earthly to his heavenly home on Wednesday, September 20, 2023 at the South Central Regional Medical Center in Laurel, Mississippi. He was born Saturday, February 7, 1953 in Mendenhall, Mississippi.

Mr. David or “Bull” as he was affectionately called, worked at Universal in Magee, and Hydro in Puckett during his lifetime. He enjoyed all things football, especially the Magee and Mendenhall “Super Bowl” and the New Orleans Saints. He had some very close, lifelong friends who were like brothers Henry Mason, John Rankin, and Jackie Sullivan. He was a lifelong member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church. The family would like to say a special thank you to his doctor, Chip Holbrook, who his caregiver calls “a very good man”.

He was preceded in death by his father, James Daniel Dampeer; mother, Lorine Callie Grantham Dampeer; brother, Homer Daniel Dampeer; sister, Henrietta Dampeer Terry.

Survivors include his sister, Cynthia Anne Dampeer Shows (Rufus); brother, Billy Lawrence Lee (Joanne); one nephew; five nieces; and a host of great nieces and great nephews.

Honorary pallbearers will be Greg Davis, Tyler Johnston, Garrett Johnston, Garrett Breaux, Ryan Davis, Kevin Johnston, and Rufus Shows.
