Mendenhall High School student Jacob Harlan, son of Casey and Lance Harlan, is already setting his sights on a bright future. Following in his parents’ footsteps as proud University of Southern Mississippi alumni, Jacob hopes to attend USM in the fall of 2026.
Like many students preparing for college, Jacob is exploring ways to fund his education. When he learned about the Luckey Day Scholarship at USM—a scholarship built on service, leadership, and character—he knew it was the perfect fit. As part of his application project, Jacob has chosen to support The Lighthouse Ministries in Hattiesburg, an organization that offers a fresh start for men, women, and children in need.
Jacob is leading a community drive to collect baby items such as diapers, wipes, bottles, clothing, and other essentials for families served by Lighthouse Ministries.
📍 Drop-off Location: Overflow Church in Magee
🕘 Hours: Monday–Thursday, 9 a.m.–5 p.m.
📅 Deadline: All items must be turned in by December 14th
Anyone wishing to help can contact Jacob directly at 601-808-2426.
As Mary Thee reminds us, “Around us are trapped in hopeless desperation. The Lighthouse Rescue Mission answers those calls.” Jacob’s project shines a light on how one young person’s compassion can make a lasting difference.
