Merika Kalman, owner of the Vault located on Main Street, requested permission from the City of Magee Board of Aldermen to close the side street next to the Valet (Choctaw) for their annual Halloween Party on October 29, 2022.
The board approved Merika’s request.
Trick or Treating in the City of Magee will be held on Monday night, October 31st.
The Board approved closing Main Street and side streets for Crazy Day, October 22nd.
The Board also approved the closing of Main Street (late afternoon) for Mingle on Main which is an event sponsored by the Magee Chamber of Commerce. The event is scheduled for November 3rd.
Alderman Sue Honea announced that Joe Worrell will again be in charge of the Veteran’s Day program set for November 11th beginning at 10:00 o’clock at Goodwater Baptist Church. All veterans are invited. Magee Police Chief Shane Little is the speaker. A meal will be served.
Philip Magee reminded the public that portable buildings in the city of Magee can only be placed in certain areas and certain places in citizen’s yards. A permit must be purchased before installing the portable building
Shane Steele announced a property hearing for 322 2nd Avenue SW (across from the Presbyterian Church) is scheduled for November 1, 2022. The area is in violation of public safety and health. At the Tuesday, October 4, 2022, court hearing six additional people were found guilty concerning property violations.
Mr. Darnell Moffett presented his resignation as Zoning Board Chairman. The position will be advertised at a later date.
The MAIS overall State Softball tournament held at the Sportsplex was a huge success. Over 3,000 people visited the park. Parks and Rec Department continue to work on all parks in the city.
