WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith, a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, today issued the following statement regarding President Trump’s FY2020 budget request:
“The release of the President’s budget will allow congressional appropriators to begin work on bills for next year. I hope we’ll make good progress, but understand this process could be difficult with a divided Congress. I will review the details of the President’s budget plan to determine how it could affect Mississippi, and work with my colleagues to do what’s best for my state and the nation.”
Hyde-Smith serves on the appropriations subcommittees on: Agriculture; Energy and Water Development; Homeland Security; Interior and Environment; Labor, Health and Human Services, and Education; and the Legislative Branch.
As the chairman of the Legislative Branch Appropriations Subcommittee, Hyde-Smith will lead development of a Senate bill that funds the U.S. Capitol Police, the Library of Congress, and other agencies that support the Congress, and the day-to-day operations across the U.S. Capitol Complex.
