The Magee Fire Department responded at the request of the County for a structure fire on Cole road @ 15:15. Magee responded with an Engine, tanker, Chief’s truck & 9 personnel to assist. Station 7 FD had only limited personnel with no apparatus responding at that time. The home belonged to a station 7 firefighter & his family. Upon arrival, the structure was well involved & flames were extending from living space into the attic area. Magee firefighters made entry through front door & attacked the flames from the interior. Fire conditions were heavy, but progress was made by knocking the flames down in the living space. Efforts to control the involvement in the attic was more difficult due to the type of construction materials between the living space & attic area. Used saws to gain access to the concealed spaces & slowly knocked the flames down in those areas. St 7 was able to get an apparatus & a few firefighters on scene. Two units from Mendenhall carrying several firefighters arrived for additional assistance. As overhaul efforts were begun, Magee FD & Mendenhall FD were released from scene @ 16:45. St 7 remained on scene to continue the overhaul process. ASAP was providing medical coverage for us. Law enforcement from Simpson SO was also present.
