Hilton Adams passed away on Sunday, June 3, 2023, at his residence. He was born on December 18, 1970, to John and Ruby Anderson Adams in Jackson, MS.
He grew up in Braxton, MS and graduated from Mendenhall High School. He was a master carpenter and a gardener but his life was as a trucker, that was who he was. The best of the best, known on the road and across the nation as 24 hour man.
Hilton was very involved in his community through the fire department, church, masonic lodge and loving his neighbors.
Hilton served in the United States Marine Corps for a short period of time until injured. A true man, a real man; protective, dependable, loyal and committed.
Hilton met his wife, Tammie, in 1999, and they married in 2001, and had four children.
His absence leaves a heavy loss for his family, friends, his community and the trucking industry. Comments from friends have been: “Every time I see him, he made me laugh.” ” He was the only one I could truly call a friend.” ” He was one of a kind, no doubt.”
His death is not a tragedy and was not untimely. He was ready to go home and waiting for the Lord with open arms. His legacy lives on with his family to love and help his neighbors and friends. His service to community and his church will be missed.
He is survived by his wife, Tammie Adams; mother, Ruby Adams; sons, Phillip Adams, Joseph Adams; daughters, Rebecca Adams, Alicia Adams; brother, Gary Adams; sisters, Kathryn McMillan (Eric), Margaret Adams Duncan (Donald) and Frances Adams Woodford along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends that will surely miss him.
He was preceded in death by his father, John Adams; brother, John Sonny Adams and sister, Lilly Adams Stieg.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests any donations be made to Gum Springs Baptist Church, 375 Gum Springs Road, Braxton, MS 39044.
Visitation will be held on Friday, June 9, 2023, at Gum Springs Baptist Church from 5:00 pm until 6:00 pm. The service will be at 6:00 pm with Bro. Andy Gibson officiating. Interment will follow in Gum Springs Baptist Cemetery.
