Henry Ross Crain
December 23, 1950 ~ September 6, 2018 (age 67)
Henry Ross Crain, of Lee County, GA was promoted on Thursday, September 6, 2018, at the age of 67 years. He is now face to face with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Born in Fort Knox, Kentucky to the late Chester and Suenette Crain, Henry graduated from Forest Hill High School in Jackson, Mississippi, served four years in the United States Army, and sixteen years in the Mississippi National Guard. He obtained his Master of Education degree from THE University of Southern Mississippi and his Education Specialist degree from Albany State University.
A lover of all things family with the mottos “do a right thing, in a right way” and “poor decisions limit future options”, he was a retired school administrator, teacher, and coach, who enjoyed writing articles on the Constitution and Government for the Lee County Herald, reading, playing pinochle, watching Southern Miss Football (SMTTT), and making homemade biscuits with his grandchildren.
He was a member of Albany Bible Church where he was privileged to serve on the Board of Deacons as well as participate in prayer service and Waffle House breakfast meetings with the ROMEO club (Retired Old Men Eating Out).
Henry will be forever remembered by his wife of 48 years, Sara Jane Spratlin Crain, his children, April (Robby) Gray, Paul (Kassi) Crain, and Rebekah (Jeff) Garrett, by his grandchildren Jenna, Lofton, Sadie, and Ellie Gray; Payton and Caleb Crain; Sawyer, Lucy, and Griffin Garrett, and by his brothers Chester (Kathie) Crain and David (Glenda) Crain.
Visitation will take place Monday, September 10, 2018 at 10:00 am at Albany Bible Church, 100 Grand Island Dr, Albany, GA, followed by funeral services at 11:00 am. Rev. Pete Daughtry will officiate. Interment will be Tuesday, September 11, 2018 at 12:00 pm at Andersonville National Cemetery, 760 POW Rd, Andersonville, GA, with Military Honors.
In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make memorials to Willson Hospice House, 320 Foundation Lane, Albany, GA 31707.
