God’s Will?
Do any of you have difficulty knowing God’s will in your life? I was raised in a Christian home, attended church regularly all of my life, and I am still teaching Sunday School after 40 years, yet I still wonder if I am following God’s will! It would be really nice to get an email from God giving me step by step directions but I don’t think that is how it works!!
I see terrible things happening across the world – children abused and neglected, alcoholism and drug addiction tearing apart families, broken hearted people, and a society that is bordering on chaos – I know this is not God’s will! We blame God for everything bad in our lives rather than taking responsibility that we made these problems and they had nothing to do with God!! Marriages fall apart and we blame God! We quote “what God has joined together, let no man put asunder” when trying to deal with divorce and broken homes, yet God had nothing to do with putting the marriage together and He had nothing to do with the divorce!!!
We are uncomfortable calling things wrong and sinful for fear of hurt feelings and alienation of friends. We use the excuse of “we are not supposed to judge people” instead of doing as instructed in the Bible and perform Fruit inspections! (“Ye shall know them by their fruit!”) I think we fear others inspecting our fruit! We have free will, and God allows us to exercise that free will, but also suffer the consequences of those decisions.
God’s will is that we have a relationship with him, not an acquaintance! After years of marriage, I have no need to ask my husband about some things because I know how he thinks and how he will respond. I know how my sister thinks about things without asking because I know her that well. The same is true about my relationship with God. If I have put in the time and work necessary to have a relationship with God, I already know what He wants for my life!
“The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord, and He delights in his way. Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down; For the Lord upholds him with His hand.”
(Psalms 37:23 NKJV)
“God is faithful, who has called you into fellowship with his son, Jesus Christ our Lord.”
