Gloria Jean Brown passed away on Tuesday, May 9, 2023, at her residence. She was born on October 7, 1948, to the late Albert Mack Blakeney and Ernestine Barrett Blakeney in Magee, MS.
Jean was a 1966 Magee High School Graduate. She then received her associate’s degree in accounting from Jones County Junior College. After marrying Hack Brown in 1984, they owned and operated the Farmer’s Market Restaurant in Jackson, Mississippi. Upon retirement, they moved to Magee where Jean enjoyed being a computer lab teacher at Magee Elementary. Jean was also an active member of Pine Grove Baptist Church. She spent the latter years with her husband on their farm enjoying working with her flowers. Jean enjoyed spending time with family, especially cooking for her grandchildren. Her most beloved role was always “MiMi.”
She is survived by her son, Jeffery Robinson (Portia); daughters, Lydia Howell (Pete), and Bridget Robinson (Kory); brother, Tommy Blakeney; grandchildren, Matthew Robinson, Witsol Robinson, Samuel Robinson, Mitchell Robinson, Brennon Smith, Adam Covington, Mallory Covington, Mary Covington, Stephen Howell, Isaac Howell, and Sara Howell; great-grandchildren, Isabelle Robinson, Hayden Brooks and Raelynn Brooks.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Hack Brown.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 11, 2023, at Tutor Funeral Home in Magee, MS from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Services will be at 11:00 am on Friday, May 12, 2023, at Tutor Funeral Home with Bro. Bill Blair officiating. Interment will follow at 3:00 pm at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church Cemetery, 11970-12006 MS -9 in Eupora, MS.
