On Saturday, November 9, 2024, at approximately 8:50 PM, a Magee Police officer conducted a traffic stop on Highway 49 South at Siloam Road on a vehicle with no tag lights. As the officer approached, a strong odor of marijuana was detected from the vehicle. The driver, identified as Gavin Micah Bowen from Oklahoma, was found to be operating the vehicle with a suspended license and without proof of insurance.
Upon further investigation, the officer discovered approximately 6 pounds of marijuana, 10 bottles of THC-infused canna syrup, and 83 THC vape cartridges within the vehicle. Bowen was subsequently taken into custody and transported to the Magee Police Department for booking and processing. Gavin was charged with:
• Trafficking a Controlled Substance
• Driving with License Suspended
• Improper Equipment
• No Proof of Insurance
All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
Additionally, it is important to note that marijuana remains illegal in Mississippi except under specific medical regulations. The use of marijuana for medicinal purposes is distinctly regulated and should not be confused with the illegal possession or sale of marijuana and related products.
