County Engineer Buddy Wolverton gave a progress report at the July 7 Board of Alderman Meeting of the new frontage road being built in Magee between Western Sizzlin and Dairy Queen. Mr. Wolverton reported that the project was more than 40% complete and that over 70% of the project time had elapsed. Mr. Wolverton said he expects the project to be complete within the next 6-10 weeks, depending on weather.
The Board also approved a quantity increase for the project for just over $50,000. The increase was not unexpected and is typical of similar projects. The Board is excited to finish the project, and was optimistic that new businesses would flood the property being accessed by the new frontage road. The project is likely to be completed in late August to early September.
Also at the July 7 Alderman Meeting, the board approved the Chamber of Commerce’s request to close the roads around Main Street the Friday afternoon before Crazy Day for a Street Concert being held that Friday night.
