I must confess! I have not been a “Friday night lights” person for several years now. Although I love high school football, changes in my life made me view the games differently.
But, Friday night, September 22nd, took me back to a time that will always make my heart almost sing!
Simpson Academy VS Presbyterian Christian in Hattiesburg! My forever friend Dot Nichols’ grandson(Connor) is a starter (both ways) for the Cougars. My great niece (Lillian Claire Montgomery) was a member of the Homecoming Court for PCS. Here was a great opportunity for me to be a part of Lillian Claire and Connor’s big night—two in one!
The Simpson Cougars won 21-14! AND….Lillian Claire was chosen Homecoming Queen! Oh, what a night! Of course, now I’m hooked on high school football again!
Congratulations to the Cougars and Lillian Claire.
While at the game, I saw a miracle! Yes, a true miracle, Kami Gordy Wert! Many of you may remember Kami suffered a serious stroke earlier in the year. Her existence was touch and go for too many weeks. Kami is a fighter, gets in national from her mother and daddy, Jacqueline and Al Gordy. Kami was blessed with a prayer chain that went viral all over the world. She is now much better…still a bundle of laughs and funny funny funny! She can’t drive but as she said, “she can ride with others!” Kami is no stay at home chick. She and Brice have two daughters. They live on the Coast (Diamond Head, I believe). As I was leaving the PCS homecoming festivities and heading to the Cougar side, Kami and Mariel Hubbard appear before my eyes! We had to make a picture. Kami was at the game to watch Parker Pierce, Kami and Page have been close friends for years.). Friday night lights kept getting better and better!
