Frank Earl Stubbs passed away at home on December 31, 2023, just before his 84th birthday. He is survived by Bobbie Walker Stubbs, his wife of 65 years and his youngest son, Lee Stubbs.
Frank was born in Magee, Mississippi, in February 1940. He attended Magee High School, where he was President of the Senior class. After graduating in 1957, he went to college at Mississippi State University and was a proud bulldog. While a student at MSU, he was leader and officer in the Kappa Alpha Fraternity. Frank graduated with a degree in Structural Engineering.
Following his graduation from Mississippi State, he and Bobbie moved to Little Rock, Arkansas, where Frank began his career with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. A few years later, Frank and Bobbie moved to Vicksburg, Mississippi, where he worked until his retirement from the USACE Mississippi Valley Division as Acting Chief, Operations Division. During his distinguished career, Frank was most prominently known and recognized as Chief, Emergency Operations. His long-time role involved strategic vision, detailed planning, and response execution to a wide range of disaster events locally, regionally, and nationally, as well as support to military operations.
Frank was an avid golfer and was also an avid fisherman. He and Richard, his oldest son who passed away in February 2020, spent many days on the water casting lures. Additionally, Frank loved watching the MSU Bulldogs compete in sports. Plus, he continued his bulldog leadership as the President of the Vicksburg Chapter of the MSU Alumni Association.
Frank was preceded in death by his parents, Mack and Lavon Stubbs and son, Richard.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Frank’s steadfast caregivers of his last four years: Ada, April, Necole, and Terry. Additionally, the family would like to extend their sincere thanks to Jenine, Haley, and staff of St. Joseph’s for their continued care of Frank.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 11, 2024, at Tutor Funeral Home in Magee, MS from 12:00 PM until 1:00 PM. The service will begin at 1:00 PM in the Tutor Funeral Home Chapel with the interment following in Magee City Cemetery.
Arrangements are entrusted with Tutor Funeral Home of Magee.
