The Scripture selected for today is found in Jeremiah 29:11: “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” The prophet of old delivered to God’s chosen people these very Words of God, imparted to him by the Lord Himself. They offered comfort and assurance to those who followed God’s laws and precepts. Along with these Words of encouragement came Words of denouncement and punishment. God wants us to prosper and to have hope and a future, but He also promises consequences for those who do not obey Him. He is our Father; we are His children. Amen!
