Older adults, especially those over 65, are at greater risk of serious complications from the flu because immune defenses naturally become weaker with age. Between 80 percent and 90 percent of deaths related to seasonal flu occur in people 65 years and older.
A high-dose flu shot is designed to produce a stronger immune response in older adults, which can better protect against seasonal flu. High-dose flu shots are available now from any county health department. You can also check with your doctor or local pharmacy.

Flu is a seasonal threat that can result in extended illness or hospitalization. Protect yourself with a flu shot from your doctor, pharmacy or county health departments

This year, flu shots are recommended for everyone six months of age and older, especially those at risk from influenza complications: young children, adults 50 and older, pregnant women, and those with a chronic illness.

Protective Hygiene
Remember to cover your cough, wash hands often and thoroughly, and stay home if you’re sick to protect yourself and others.
