Fireworks are only allowed around New Year’s and Independence Day. At all other times, selling or using fireworks is not allowed.

When fireworks can be SOLD or DISPLAYED:

  • From 14 days before the holiday

  • Until 7 days after the holiday

When fireworks can be USED (set off):

  • From 7 days before the holiday

  • Through 7 days after the holiday

  • On those days, fireworks may only be used between 10:00 A.M. and 10:00 P.M.

Special New Year’s exception:

  • On New Year’s Eve, fireworks may be used from 10:00 A.M. until 1:00 A.M. on New Year’s Day

Other special events:

  • The Board of Aldermen can approve fireworks on other dates only if they are handled by a licensed pyrotechnics professional.

Bottom line:
Only use fireworks during the allowed holiday periods, only during approved hours, and never outside those times unless the city has officially approved it.
