The regular meeting of the City of Magee Board of Alderman was held Tuesday, February 21st at 6:30 PM.
David Wade from the MS Department of Planning and Development District was present to present a comprehensive plan for 2017 on the City of Magee. Wade has worked with the city of Magee for many years and works closely with Zoning Director David Dunn.
The slide show gave an over-view of the capabilities of the new software which will bring information about our city into the digital age.
The Comprehensive Plan site would allow the public to access city information such as property lines, taxes, zoning, flood plains, dwelling units and more. The map would also contain valuable information concerning the water lines in Magee as well as fire hydrants. As with any site, additional information can be added as needed.
In a 50-mile radius of Magee, the trade area consists of 800,00 people. Magee’s location is one of the city’s best selling points. The Comprehensive Plan will serve as an economic tool.
Mayor Clyde invited everyone to “check out the city park.” Work has been done to upgrade the walking track, lights, fields, and courts.
The turf is being installed this week at the Sportsplex on the infields of all fields. A considerable amount of dirt was removed from the field. The dirt is being used in city wide projects.
The City of Puckett has requested some old lights owned by the city. The Board declared the lights surplus property and will be given to Puckett.
A discussion was held concerning the lights near the in-town walking track. These lights were in use when there was a tennis court in that area. The light situation will be checked and a decision will be make concerning removal of the old lights and poles.
The Board minutes and Claim Docket were approved.
The next Board of Alderman meeting is scheduled for March 7th.
