RE: FATAL ACCIDENT, SIMPSON COUNTY

At approximately 5:20 a.m., on September 1, 2021, the Mississippi Highway Patrol responded to a fatal crash on MS149, on D’LO bridge, in Simpson County, involving a pedestrian on a bicycle.

Preliminary reports indicate a 1991 Dodge Dakota driven by Damon M. Robinson, 44, of Braxton, MS, was traveling southbound on MS149. While crossing the D’LO bridge, the 1991 Dodge Dakota collided with Cassandra O. Blackley, 27, of Laurel, MS. She received fatal injuries from the crash and was pronounced dead on the scene by the Simpson County Coroner.

The accident remains under investigation by the Mississippi Highway Patrol.
