Family of Hugh Jack Stubbs Make Donation to Animal Shelter

Magee Board of Alderman met Tuesday, January 18, 2022 for their regular schedule meeting.

The meeting was the first for the new City Attorney Marc McMillian.

All minutes, agenda, and claims dockets were approved.

The board approved to charge a $200 refundable deposit in addition to the $500 fee accessed for firework permits.

The family of Hugh Jack Stubbs made a donation in the animal shelter in his memory in the amount of $1,248.00.

Mayor Dale Berry announced the filming of Mike Rowe with Dirty Job’s aired this past week with the section on the cleaning of the water tower within the city limits of Magee. The show was good and great publicity for the City of Magee.

Ashley Steele advised work and installation of the light pole and vault at the airport are  moving slowly due to weather.

The board voted for the Fire Department to determine and label old turnout gear as surplus and permission for the fire department to dispose of as needed.

The board approved to hire Emanual Thurman and Courtney James as part time officers for the the police department. Both are full time certified.

The board approved and advised the public Commercial Garbage rates were increasing from #19.22 to $30.00 for most business. Some business might incur higher rates due to the volume of garbage.

With no further business the meeting entered executive session. Next board meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, February 1, 2022.
