JACKSON –Escaped state inmate Eugene Robinson is in custody.
Robinson, 37, was arrested near in Webster County this morning after he attempted to flee law enforcement in a vehicle he allegedly carjacked from a motorist about 9 a.m.
Robinson was taken to the Oktibbeha County hospital for a minor injury and was treated and released. He was then transported to Central Mississippi Correctional Facility in Rankin County.
Robinson, MDOC #L4773, fled the George-Greene County Regional Correctional Facility in Lucedale about 7 p.m. Saturday after tying up an officer and stealing the officer’s champagne 2000 GMC Sonoma truck. He had been in prison since 2003, serving a total of 30 years for armed robbery in Choctaw County and burglary in Oktibbeha County. He is facing an escape charge. Other charges are pending.
