Ernest Mack McAlpin
(March 5, 1946 – October 17, 2022)

Ernest Mack McAlpin, 76 of Destin, Florida formerly of Magee, Mississippi, passed away from his earthly home to his heavenly home on Saturday, October 15, 2022, at his son’s Game Ranch in Waelder, Texas. He was born Friday, March 5, 1946, in Mize, Mississippi.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 22, 2022, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home at 302 8th Ave SW, Magee, Mississippi.

A graveside funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 22, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at Siloam Baptist Church Cemetery in Magee, Mississippi. Brother James Fortenberry will officiate. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Magee is in charge of arrangements. 601-849-5031

Ernest was born in Mize, Mississippi but grew up and attended school in Magee, Mississippi.  Not long after moving to Magee, he met his beautiful wife to be Judy.  They would go on to marry in 1968 and enjoy 54 years of marriage. He was athletic and loved sports, especially football where he served as captain of his team at Magee High School.  After high school, he spent seven years in the Mississippi National Guard and then went to work for the Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT) in the traffic signal division, where he retired after 28 years. During that time, he had two sons and enjoyed nothing more than watching them play sports. He worked in the private sector for several years before fully retiring to spend more time with his family, which had now grown to include grandchildren.  After retirement, he and Judy split their time between their home in Destin and their son’s ranch in Texas. Ernest loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and traveling the country.  But what he loved most of all, was simply spending time with his family.
