Ellen Arlene Fortenberry passed away on Monday, April 29, 2024, surrounded by her family. She was born on March 1, 1957, to Frank Lucas and Nannie Mae Highlander Lucas in Pinola, MS.
Better known as Puddin to her family, she was adored by them. Her passing leaves an empty void in their lives. She enjoyed the simple things, like drinking her morning coffee and watching the sunrise. She loved watching the birds and squirrels eat out of the feeders her husband, John, put up for them. Also, just spending time with her family and friends. She was a lifelong member of the Pinola community where she grew up and attended school. She was a member of Pinola Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Nannie Lucas; brothers, John Lucas, Charles Lucas, Pete Lucas and Aubrey Lucas; nephew, Eddie Lucas and brother-in-law, Wayne Holland.
She is survived by her husband, John W. Fortenberry and her daughter, Angie Fortenberry. She also leaves behind her sister, Betty Holland; her nieces, Regennia Pearce, Melissa Bryant, Lou Ann Gill and nephews, Travis Lucas and Troy Lucas.
