Early morning of Tuesday, December 22,  2020 at approximately 2:39 a.m., a two vehicle traffic accident occurred on I-55 near mile marker 81. A white 2016 Freightliner fully loaded with mail traveling north on I-55 near the Wynndale exit lost control for some unknown reason causing the semi truck and trailer to roll over onto its right side.
The entire northbound lane of I-55 just above the Wynndale exit was blocked.
A gray 2015 Nissan Rogue traveling northbound on I-55 behind the white 2016 Freightliner, collided with the under carriage of the overturned semi trailer. Minor injuries were reported in this accident and is currently under investigation.
