On March 23, 2025, at approximately 4:00 AM, Magee Police officers were dispatched to the CEFCO gas station on Highway 49 in response to a shooting that had just occurred in the parking lot.
After several days of investigation, the Magee Police Department’s Investigations Division, with assistance from the Mississippi Analysis and Information Center a unit within the Mississippi Office of Homeland Security obtained substantial evidence leading to the arrest of Desmond Kantrell Williams. With support from the Simpson County Sheriff’s Office, Williams was taken into custody on Saturday, March 29, 2025, at 11:55 AM.
Williams was transported to the Magee Police Department, where he was later charged with aggravated assault and discharging a firearm within city limits.
All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
The City of Magee will not be the Wild West, nor will we allow anyone to endanger the lives of others. We will leave no stone unturned in our pursuit of justice. If necessary, we will utilize every state and federal resource available to hold those who threaten our safety accountable. If you commit violent acts in our city, we will find you, and we will bring you to justice.
