The Scriptural passage selected for today is found in Proverbs 31:8-9: “Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves. Speak up and judge fairly; defend the rights of the poor and needy.” King Solomon, as ruler, knew that he had many subjects who had no voice and needed an advocate. As a judge, he saw it as his duty to be fair, equitable, and just. We, like Solomon, should treat the less fortunate with all fairness, realizing that they deserve our respect, tolerance, and our prayers. If possible, we should relieve their plight whenever possible through gifts of outreach. Let us keep in mind that God loves a cheerful giver. Amen!
