WESSON – The Co-Lin Football team announces the hiring of Darius Buck as an assistant coach. Buck will primarily work with the Wolves cornerbacks and comes to Co-Lin after spending a two-year stint at Clark Atlanta University as the defensive coordinator.
Prior to that, Buck spent two years as an assistant coach at Albany State University where he coached cornerbacks and the punt return team from 2017-2019. Under his leadership, the punt return team finished third in the country in blocks in 2018, and the defense was ranked Top 15 against the pass in 2017.
Buck also has experience at the University of South Alabama as a graduate assistant from 2015-2017 where he assisted with defensive backs as well as special teams. Buck started his career coaching at Jones County Junior College where he spent two years (2013-2015) coaching nickel backs and assisting with special teams. He was also part of the MACJC staff of the year in 2013 while at Jones.
“Darius is a former student athlete in this league with Mississippi ties. He brings experience at the senior college and junior college level,” said head coach Glenn Davis. “He received high praises from everyone that I talked to about him. They all commented about him being a great recruiter and outstanding coach.”
“He will do a great job developing our future defensive backs,” added Davis. “He will be a great fit in the Wolf Pack family.”
Buck is a native of Vicksburg, Mississippi and played at Murray State University. Buck graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Health and Exercise Science in 2012, and earned his Master’s Degree in Health Education from the University of South Alabama in 2017.
