Congressman Guest’s Statement on Articles of Impeachment
Washington, DC – Congressman Michael Guest (MS-03) released the statement below following the announcement made by House Democratic Leadership to bring Articles of Impeachment against President Donald Trump to the floor for a vote.
“This should not come as a surprise to anyone. Democrats have been trying to impeach President Trump since the day he was elected, and they have ignored House rules and precedent in their pursuit. I have seen no evidence to support the Democrats’ claims, and their accusations were built on hearsay. No court in the United States would admit the majority of the testimony provided by the Democratic witnesses. The purpose of these Articles of Impeachment is not to find justice but to undo the 2016 presidential election results, and I will not vote to silence the voices of over 700,000 Mississippians who voted for our president.”
