The Mississippi Scholars – Simpson County Steering Committee is proud to announce its annual Mississippi Scholars and Tech Master Scholars Recognition Reception, celebrating the outstanding achievements of high school seniors from Magee High School, Mendenhall High School, Simpson Academy, and the Simpson County Technical Center who have met the program’s rigorous academic and community service standards.
This year’s event will be held at the Magee High School Auditorium on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, at 6:00pm, and will feature Commissioner Rhoshunda Kelly of the Mississippi Department of Banking and Consumer Finance as the keynote speaker. Commissioner Kelly, a dedicated public servant and a trailblazer in financial regulation, will offer words of inspiration to the students as they prepare for their next chapter.
She was appointed by Governor Tate Reeves to serve as the Commissioner of the Department of Banking and Consumer Finance on March 22, 2021. She has over 20 years of experience as a regulator, beginning her career with the Department as a bank examiner trainee in 2001.
The Mississippi Scholars Program, an initiative supported by business and education leaders, encourages high school students to pursue a more rigorous course of study and become active contributors to their communities.
