College Savings Mississippi Awards over $7,000 in MACS Scholarships at Egg Bowl
As the official half-time sponsor for the 2016 Egg Bowl, College Savings Mississippi held its annual tuition toss as an opportunity to award over $7,000 in MACS (Mississippi Affordable College Savings) scholarships to students at Mississippi’s public universities.
Nearly 150 students registered during the month leading up to the Egg Bowl. Two were chosen to compete, throwing as many footballs into a target in just seconds on the field in Oxford at half-time. The student with the most on-target tosses won a $5,529 MACS scholarship. The runner-up won a $1,529 MACS scholarship. With the average cost of two full-time semesters at one of Mississippi’s eight public universities up to $7,027, these scholarships can make a real difference!
This year, both winners were students from Ole Miss. Congratulations to Keely Cox, a freshman from Byhalia, Mississippi, for coming in first, and Barry Flannery, a junior from Muscle Shoals, Alabama, for a close second! And, many thanks to the athletics departments at both Ole Miss and Mississippi State for your help in putting this event on each year.
