WESSON – Scottsboro, Alabama is the destination for Copiah-Lincoln’s Ronny and Jacob Ross as the father-son duo head to the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II National Tournament on May 19-22. The tournament takes place at Goose Pond Colony Resort in Scottsboro.
Jacob Ross qualified for the tournament after finishing with the second lowest scoring average (72.90) of the season in the Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges (MACJC). An Ole Miss transfer, Ross was named MACJC First Team All-State. Ross, who plans to play at Mississippi State next year, won match medalist at the event hosted by Northwest Mississippi on April 6-7.  He finished on the All-Tournament team in three of the four regular season MACJC events that he played in.
Co-Lin previously played at Goose Pond Colony during a spring break tournament. That’s something that Co-Lin golf coach Ronny Ross expects to help his son. “He finished in a five-way tie for 13th when we played there earlier this year and there will be many of the same players in the field this week,” said Ross. “The biggest thing at this course is putting. The greens are very big and you must put well to win, if he does that I think Jacob will have a very good chance,” said Ross.
The tournament begins with two practice rounds on the 17-18. The four scored rounds take place on the 19-22.
