Co-Lin Emergency Medical Technician students complete training

WESSON- Wesson, MS –Copiah-Lincoln Community College (Co-Lin) is proud to announce the graduation of eleven new Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) from its Workforce Education training center.

“We are excited to welcome these new EMTs to the workforce,” said Luke Laird, Co-Lin Workforce Center Director. “They have the skills and knowledge to make a difference in the lives of others.”

The program is offered in the evenings to accommodate students who are working full-time. After 144 hours of textbook training, participants are required to observe for 12 hours in an emergency room and to participate in 5 ambulance runs. Graduates of the program are eligible to take the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) exam, which is required to become a certified EMT.

Tuition for this session was funded by the Mississippi Center for Advancement of Prehospital Medicine (MSCAPM) and AccelerateMS. MSCAPM is a non-profit organization that supports the development of prehospital care in Mississippi. AccelerateMS is a state initiative that provides funding for workforce development programs.

“We are grateful for the support of MSCAPM and AccelerateMS,” said Robin Mitchell, Workforce Coordinator. “Their funding made it possible for us to offer this program and others to more students.”
