MENDENHALL- Ten Copiah-Lincoln Community College Workforce Education students recently completed the evening Emergency Medical Technician advanced course. The course prepares currently certified Emergency Medical Technicians (BASIC) to provide limited advanced levels of emergency medical care. In addition to their principal duty of performing ongoing basic life support, AEMTs are also equipped to deliver medications outside the scope allowed for an EMT such as medications delivered via intravenous access (IV). The Advanced Emergency Medical Technician practices under medical supervision and is responsible for treating and safely transporting the critically ill or injured patient. Upon successful completion of this extensive training, students are prepared to sit for the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) certification, which is required for individuals to receive a state license to practice.

Enrollment is now open for the next Wesson Campus Basic EMT session which starts January 17, 2023, with a registration deadline of January 12. Additional information about registration is available at www.colin.edu/emt or by calling 601.643.8707.
