The Magee Board of Alderman met for the final meeting of 2022 Tuesday, December 20, 2022.
Diane McPhail gave the opening prayer. Mayor Dale Berry led in the Pledge of Allegiance.
Pat Brown approached the board and advised he is the new Director for the Simpson County Development Foundation. He asked the board to meet with him in a work session in January to get ideas and visions of the needs for the City of Magee.
City Hall will be closed Friday, December 23, 2022 and Monday, December 26, 2022 for the Christmas Holidays. There will be no garbage collection on Monday or Friday. Mondays route will run Tuesday. Tuesday route will run Wednesday. The city has requested residents do not set garbage out until the day of pickup. Please make sure garbage bags are in containers to avoid animals destroying trash.
The department heads are working on surplus property to see if there is enough to have an auction in early Spring. Each department will submit a list by the next board meeting.
The city approved for the use the sports complex for a camp hosted by former Magee youth and athletes. The camp will take place Thursday, December 29, 2022 at the football filed located at the sports complex.
The city is working on updating the dog ordinance currently in place. An amended ordinance should be presented in the coming meetings.
Alderman Sue Honea explained the tennis court area was in needed repair and asked for attention to be brought to these areas as well as the bathrooms.
With no further business, the meeting enter executive session.
