Operation Christmas Child

Stuffing boxes, folding boxes, packing big boxes, the fellowship hall of Corinth Baptist Church is buzzing.

Operation Christmas Child “shoe” boxes are being delivered from area churches and organizations from all over Simpson County.

Corinth Baptist Church severs as the countywide collection base. Stacks of shoeboxes are brought into the fellowship hall @ Corinth and the assembly line begins…ending with 15-22 individual boxes being places in a BIG box. Before the “big” box can be packed, each individual shoebox must be checked to see if proper supplies are in the box.

The goal is to reach 3200 children with a shoebox for Christmas. The count as of Wednesday is 2,000 with 10 churches remaining to deliver boxes brought to Corinth to be packed and shipped. The boxes can be delivered throught Saturday at 6:00 pm. For questions contact Laurie Smith at 601-849-1953 or 601-382-0315. The boxes from Simpson County will go to Laurel then Atlanta, and then Belize. The South Region, which Simpson county is part of, sends their boxes to Angola, Belize, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Chad, Democratic Republic of Congo, Haiti, Mali, Peru, Philippines, Republic of Congo, Tanzania, Zambia, 2 Sensitive Countries.

After the boxes arrive in Atlanta and Texas, they are checked one last time to make sure everything is correct to be packed. A devotional book, similar to a Sunday school book is packed inside the box. When the boxes reach the country they are going a bible is then added in the language of that country.

OCC Coordinator is Laurie Smith. The OCC relay team is Betty Hall, Debbie Blair, Sara Varner, Sherrie Guest, Bonnie Yates, Carrie Bynum, Ann Sullivan, Charlene Loyd, Pat Eubanks, Kathy Lucas, Kathy Smith, Carol Walker, Brittany Milton, Faye Daley.
