The Scriptural passage chosen for today is found in Galatians 3:13: “Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us, for it is written: ‘Cursed is everyone who is hung on a tree.'” The apostle felt it necessary to remind the early Christians often of the ultimate price Christ paid so that all could enjoy life eternal with God. God sent His Son Jesus to come to earth, live, then be crucified on the cross to cover the sins of the world. After three days, Jesus arose and ascended into Heaven. While on earth, He faced constant opposition from those who looked upon Him as a threat, a charlatan, an imposter. To be crucified, hanging from a tree, was a curse. It still is. What a cruel death Jesus suffered for us! It was a gift he freely gave to all mankind. That gift still extends to us today. We have but to accept it to become heirs and joint heirs with God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. Why neglect so great a salvation? The choice is ours. Amen!
