Call it a giant block party for the entire Mississippi College family. That’s what the 2019 Choctaw Fanfare promises to be for MC supporters.

It’s not too early to circle the August 24 date on calendars and attend the event getting the university’s 194th academic year off to a terrific start. The activity is booked at the parking lots nearby the Robinson-Hale football stadium. Tickets are now on sale. The MC Alumni Association serves as the program’s sponsor.

The action for the annual extravaganza of food, fun, and the focus on Choctaws Fall sports teams will begin at 5 p.m. that Saturday.

Ticket prices are $15 for adults and $10 for children between the ages of 5 and 12 years old.

The price includes a tailgate-style meal, a Choctaws T-shirt and an MC swag item.

Expect to be entertained with games and music. There will be kiddie inflatables and a few surprises in store for guests that evening.

On hand will be a nice mix of Mississippi College students, parents, faculty, staff, alumni and university friends. Look for President Blake Thompson to make the rounds greeting hundreds of visitors.

Last year, a photo booth proved to be a big hit. MC sports personality Tom A. Hawk also won over fans at the 2018 Choctaw Fanfare.

An MC football scrimmage at Robinson-Hale Stadium will add excitement to the evening’s activities. It’s a sneak preview of the upcoming gridiron season.

Led by head coach John Bland, the Blue & Gold will open the 2019 season with a road date against the Alcorn State University Braves on September 7 in Lorman. Kickoff is at 6 p.m. MC returns home to Clinton to face Albany State University of Georgia on September 14. The kickoff is 7 p.m.

Athletic Director Mike Jones is sold on the merits of Choctaw Fanfare “This event has gotten better each and every year,” he said. “It’s a great way to get things started.”

There will be a Plan B should it rain at the 2019 Choctaw Fanfare. Activities would begin indoors at the A.E. Wood Coliseum.

August 24 also coincides with Move-In Day Day for hundreds of Mississippi College freshmen. Thanks to a helping hand from upper class students, the newcomers will get situated in a variety of campus residence halls starting 8 a.m. that Saturday morning.
