From Ian Cowart
I am excited to announce that the Magee Chamber of Commerce has partnered with Magee General Hospital to have “Treat Street” at this year’s “Crazy Day”. The Chamber of Commerce board of directors have been hard at work the past few months brainstorming ideas on how to improve and make this year’s Crazy Day the biggest yet. We have already accomplished a great deal with our “Project Downtown” with music and the mural, but the biggest question that keeps rattling in my head is, what’s next? This year, to ensure that every angle of Crazy Day planning is done efficiently, I broke the board down into 7 planning committees. The result of doing this has been outstanding. Every single board member has been working so hard that it really makes my job as the Chamber President super easy. Chamber Board of Director, Lacye Evans, reached out to Pam Wallace with Magee General Hospital with the idea of collaborating Treat Street at Crazy Day this year. Pam brought this notion before their board and they loved it. This gives Crazy Day a sort of a Harvest/Halloween festival kind of feel. Another great positive to having “Treat Street” with “Crazy Day” this year is that it is on a Saturday. This is helpful to parents and their kids due to it not being on a school night. Sorry kids, looks like you won’t have an excuse to get out of doing your homework this year.
We will be hosting a costume and pumpkin carving contest as well. Parents, children, and people of all ages are encourage to dress up in their favorite Halloween costumes not just for “Treat Street” later in the evening, but for the entire Crazy Day. I know that some of the board members including myself with be dressing up this year. We only ask that costumes remain wholesome and tasteful as this is a family event. We are beyond excited for Crazy Day. There will be tons of new food as well as arts and crafts vendors. We are also looking to hosting one of Crazy Day’s biggest car shows as well.
I hope to see everyone on October 28th and ready to bring the “Crazy”!!
