Carolyn Gallent Reed, age 81, experienced the fullness of God’s glory on February 24, 2021, and is now enjoying all of her Lord’s many promises. The youngest of five children, she was born to Clifton Nathaniel Gallent and Mary Alice Smiley on February 6, 1940, in Centreville Mississippi.
Carolyn professed faith in Jesus and lived a life of selfless service to others. She had a determined devotion to her family and a remarkable courage and fortitude through many hardships and challenges. She proudly served the Simpson County Sheriff’s Department for eighteen years as a radio dispatcher. She found joy in growing flowers and vegetables and cooking. However, her greatest joy was sharing her harvest and tasty treats with family and friends.
Carolyn is survived by her four loving daughters, Jane Ulrich (Kurt), Alice Bates (Johnny O’Brien), Ouida Kennedy, Mary Miller (John); sister, Cynthia Morris (Richard); and sister-in-law, Jo H. Gallent. Moreover, Carolyn was blessed with seven grandchildren, Leah Ulrich, Trudy Ulrich, Michael Kennedy, Keith Miller, Andrew Kennedy, Kaleb Ulrich, and Kathryn Miller. She is also survived by her greatest fan, her great-granddaughter, Ella Ulrich. Carolyn was also loved by her ten nieces and nephews. While her absence will leave a void in the lives of those who loved her, her faith and giving nature will continue to impact those who knew her.
Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, James Reed; son-in-law, David Kennedy; granddaughter, Trudy Elizabeth Ulrich; brother, Clifton Norman (Sonny) Gallent; sisters, Dora Katherine Regal (Carl) and Hazel Dixon (Paul); nephew Miller Regal.
