Carolyn Ann McGowan, age 86,  passed away on Sunday, August 28, 2016 at her home.

 

She was born on December 20, 1929 to her parents, the (late) Anse Carroll Kelly and Bessie (Foster) Kelly in Jackson, Ms.

Carolyn was a retired music teacher.  She taught in both private and public schools.  She was a member of the Mendenhall Business Women’s Club and the Red Hatters.

 
She is survived by her  son, John Alfred McGowan, Jr. (Dianna) and one granddaughter, Anna Elizabeth McGowan.  Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Alfred McGowan, Sr.
Visitation is scheduled for  Friday, September 2, 2016, at Tutor Funeral Home in Mendenhall  from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m.  Services will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel with the Rev. Jeff  Tollison officiating.   Final resting place with be in the Mendenhall City Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be sent to the Mendenhall United Methodist Church,  331 Ash Street, Mendenhall, MS, 39114.
Arrangements entrusted to the care of Tutor Funeral Home of Mendenhall.
