The NCCAA is pleased to announce Carlie Sargent of Mississippi College as the 2016 Softball Game Plan 4 LIFE Character Award Recipient.

Carlie, a senior from Oxford, Alabama, is a person who demonstrates how to be a Godly leader to her team both on and off the field. Carlie has achieved many accomplishments while at Mississippi College including NCCAA All-Regional Team, NCCAA Scholar-Athlete, the David M. Halbrook Award, and Gulf South Conference Academic Honor Roll.

She is the all-time leader in strikeouts per game (6.23) at Mississippi College and set the school record with 180 strikeouts this season. Carlie also tossed the school’s first-ever perfect game on April 16th against #25 Alabama Huntsville.

Carlie is a spiritual leader of her team, evidenced by the team Bible study she started once she arrived on campus. This year alone, four Lady Choctaws have accepted Christ, fruits of that Bible study. She truly cares about the well-being of each and every member of the team. In the classroom, Carlie holds a 3.69 GPA in art education.

“Carlie has been a positive influence on this team since stepping on campus,” stated Mississippi College’s Softball Coach Brooke O’Hair. “She is a natural leader on the field and the team looks to her when things are not always going perfect.”

Headquartered in Greenville, South Carolina, the NCCAA strives to promote the gospel of Jesus Christ through its 24 National Championships and 1 National Invitational.  For more information on the NCCAA, contact the NCCAA National Office at (864) 250-1199 or visit www.thenccaa.org.
