Cade Cockrell, son of Dale and Brenda Cockrell, of Magee has been chosen to participate in the NASA Community College Aerospace Scholar.
Cade is presently a student at Jones County Community College and a graduate of Magee High School.
Cockrell stated, “I can’t wait to represent Jones County Junior College at NASA’s John C. Stennis Space Center and get a behind the scenes look at NASA, work with a NASA scientist, and compete in a rover competition.”
NCAS gives community college STEM students an authentic NASA experience and encourages them to finish a 2-year degree or transfer to a 4-year university to pursue a NASA-related field or career. The application for the Spring 2016 session is now open.
Eligibility:
- U.S. citizenship
- High school graduate or equivalent and at least 18 years of age
- Registered at a U.S. community college in the semester prior to the onsite workshop
- Concurrent enrollment or completion of 9+ hours of STEM coursework
- Able to commit to a 5 week online session
- Internet acces
