Junior Tylan Buckley hit two home runs, including a grand slam, to lead the Mississippi College softball team to a 7-0 victory on Sunday and a series sweep of Christian Brothers at the MC Softball Complex.

The Lady Choctaws (21-9, 11-7 GSC) have now won 10 straight games and 15 of their last 16. The winning streak is the longest since MC turned the trick in the 2014 season.

Buckley gave MC all the offense they would need in the second inning as she hit her fourth home run of the season off the flag pole in center field to take a 1-0 lead.

Senior Carlie Sargent (11-4) would pitch her second shutout of the weekend against CBU, going 14.0 scoreless innings against the Lady Bucs (6-25, 2-16 GSC). On Sunday, the Oxford, Ala. native scattered six hits with eight strikeouts over the 7.0 inning effort.

The Lady Choctaws would add an insurance run in the fourth inning in unorthodox fashion as pinch-runner Haley Muller advanced to second after Buckley was caught stealing third. She would come home to score as the Lady Bucs threw the ball away trying to get the freshman at second base.

MC would break the game open in the fifth inning as freshman Alexia Harmon walked with the bases loaded to drive in senior Lauren Mulligan, extending the lead to 3-0.

Buckley followed up the RBI walk with a grand slam that reached Frierson Field, the home of the MC baseball team. On the day, the Philadelphia native was 2-for-3 with two home runs and five RBI.

Freshman Kristen Qualls backed up her big day on Saturday, three home runs against CBU, with a 3-for-3 day on Sunday.

The Lady Choctaws will be back in action next weekend when they travel to Carrollton, Ga. to face West Georgia in a three-game series, beginning Friday with a doubleheader at 12:00 p.m.
