Rev. Buddy Keyes announced his resignation and retirement to his First Baptist Church Magee congregation two weeks ago on March 5th during the morning worship after 12 years of serving as church pastor.

BroBuddy&JackieBro. Buddy and wife, Jackie, were asked their favorite songs and the sanctuary choir and soloist led the congregation in those songs to begin our service.  As Bro. Buddy approached the pulpit this morning March 19th for the last time as FBC Magee Pastor, he said this is not to be a funeral.  Even though there were tears through out the congregation.

1.) Stand Strong and Courageous

2.) Stand on the Word  …  Don’t sway to the left or the right.  Keep your eyes on Jesus.

3.) Be obedient … Be what God called us to be.

This applies to FBC Magee as well as our own lives.

Bro. Buddy gave the church congregation instructions:  Start praying now for the new pastor.  There is a new pastor for FBC Magee to lead the church to the Promise Land.  Once that new shepherd comes, the congregation must follow him.

When one door closes, another door opens.  Bro. Buddy asked the congregation to pray for him and Mrs. Jackie as well as for FBC Church Magee in the days ahead.  Even though Bro. Buddy stated he doesn’t know what the Lord will lead him and Mrs. Jackie to do next, but their plans are to continue to make their home here in Magee.

With a standing ovation, Deacon Chairman, David Holbrook, presented Bro. Buddy and Mrs. Jackie Keyes with a plaque for their service and a monetary gift.

Just a reminder, a reception for Bro. and Mrs. Buddy Keyes will be held in the FBC Magee Family Life Center from 4-6pm March 19th.  Everyone is invited.
