Simpson County Board of Supervisors met Thursday, August 15, 2019 in Mendenhall.
Road Manager Ben Warren updated the board on the status of the tar and rock projects. Warren advised the board that better prep work is needed before entering these jobs. A change of plans moving forward is being developed to allow roads to settle more before applying tar.
The sheriff’s department requested approval to lease a K-9 named Max from Rhonda Blakeney for the Simpson county Sheriff’s Department. Max is three years old and trained for narcotics and tracking. Leasing of Max will allow an additional K-9 for the department at a minimal cost. The broad approved to lease Max with modifications made by board attorney.
In additional, the board approved eight new hires.

- Jeremy Sandifer- Part-time Non-certified jail.
Ms. Carter a concerned citizen came before the board asking help for a water bill due to a pipe being damaged on her property while road crews were cutting debris from the side of the road. The final bill is yet to be determined due to final bill not generated. The board approved to pay the damage for the broken line when final bill is submitted next statement.
The Board Approved:
- Purchasing two 2017 Ford Police Interceptor Utility vehicles form the state of Missouri highway Patrol for $22,400 each in accordance with 31-7-13(m)(vi). Approval was also grated for two sheriff employees to travel to Missouri to pick up vehicles when they were ready.
- School bus turnaround from the request of the Simpson County School district.
- To advertise the 20202 Simpson County Budget Hearing and Tax Levy Hearing with no tax levy increase to be held on September 13, 2019 at 9:00 a.m. at the Board of Supervisors Meeting.

All Simpson County Offices will be closed Monday, September 2, 2019 in observance of Labor Day.
