Simpson County Board of Supervisors met Monday, June 4, 2018 at 9:00 AM.
Mendenhall Mayor Todd Booth met before the board and asked for consideration of reinstating the park funding for municipalities for the 2018 fiscal year. The funding was previously deleted by Board of Supervisors. Approval was grated to give all cities park funding monies previous budgeted for the 2018 year. The cities will not receive monies for the 2019 fiscal year forward.
Albert White, Mississippi Department of Transportation, met before the board answering questions concerning the contract agreement with MDOT for the replacement of the bridges along SR 149 between Mendenhall and Braxton.
An easement granting a 260- foot by 100- foot temporary construction easement on Simpson county property adjacent to the roadway slide repair on Highway 43 near the intersection with Highway 28 near Pinola was approved.
A request to approve the property list of properties to be considered to replace 1.6 acres of the D’Lo Water Park property that will be taken to complete the replacement of the bridge over Strong River on SR 149 was approved.
The board approved the appointment of a special prosecutor in Justice Court for the State of Miss vs Edgar Ray Bridges due to recusal of Wesley Broadhead.
Approval was given to pay the repair of a car window broken while Novene Whitehead was driving by on Highway 149 where the inmate work crews were weed trimming near the road in from of the E911 building. The cost of repair is $195.00.
The board approved the use of the Mississippi Election Support Fund distribution of $13,903.06 to be expended for allowable purposes to help pay for election expenses incurred in the current and subsequent fiscal years.
RealPure Bottling of Magee filed an application with Simpson County for exemption on new equipment within the building. A new line was installed at a value of $9,241,698.00. Raw Materiel cost $500,007. Total exemption of 9.7 million was approved. This exemption is valid for 5 years and will be revisited in 5 years for an addition 5 year exemption.
The tax exemption for the Pioneer Building was released for the 2018 tax year.
Board of Supervisors accepted the bid of AMR as the Ambulance provider for the county.
With no further business, the meeting was recessed until next scheduled meeting, June 18, 2018
