The Board of Supervisors met Friday, February 12, 2016 at 9:00 am. The meeting was called to order by President, Randy Moore.
JM Hooker, Road Manager, gave his report and it was approved.
Sheriff O’Cain asked the board for permission to open a separate account to keep funds separated. Sheriff O’Cain also asked permission to bid and try to purchase 5 vehicles at surplus with each not to exceed $8,000 or a total of $35,000 that is already budgeted. Deputy Richard Harper advised board the K-9 dog had died. Plans are to replace animal when one becomes available.
Rhuel Dickinson, County Administrator gave his report:
- Adopt an Order to approve the Claims Docket of February 12, 2016, in the amount of $706,002.74 and the electronic payment claim for VISA in the amount of $1,017.28.
- Authorize the January 2016 Completed Claims Docket to be made a part of the minutes and for the Board President to sign.
- Approve the Finanical Reports and Solid Waste Reports for the month of January 2016, as presented by the County Administrator.
- Marsh Bratcher, Simpson County News, consider advertisement fo County resources in the next edition of the Profile.
- Gulf Guaranty – Richard Cothern to discuss programs with the Mississippi Association of Supervisors including Inmate Medical Expenses.
- American Medical Response Ambulance Service – Stan Alford, stated plans to stay in Simpson county and service residents of the county.
- Approve the list of County Road Department Employees authorized to take County vehicles home for emergency call out purposes. For IRS purposes, the list includes Drivers and Riders commuting in county vehicles.
- Approve the renewal of the Standby Generator Maintenance Service Agreement with Taylor Power Systems with one full service and one inspection for each of our five industrial generators in the amount of $5,677.00.
- Ratify the approval of the County Administrator to have the veterinarian euthanize the County drug dog Kyra due to the extremely painful, aggressive and non-curable cancer in the interest of humane treatment and to authorize the removal of the dog from the county inventory – Asset number 3640.
- Approve the Inter local Agreement between the Mississippi State University and Simpson County, Mississippi, to pay the budgeted amount of county salary support directly to MSU for the term to provide complete payroll service for Cooperative Extension Services employees assigned to Simpson County and for office space, budgetary support and other related items. This agreement is intended to remain within the existing or any future budgets adopted by the Board of Supervisors.
- Approve the lowest quotation bid of ITECH Systems Group, Inc. for the purchase and installation of a public wireless computer access system in the Simpson County Courthouse, Chancery Building, Sheriff’s Office, Justice Court Clerk and Emergency 911 Building to provide the public and court access to online law libraries as a replacement and extenstion of the Simpson County Law Library from the special Law Library Fund in the amount of $12,803.00.
- Approve applicable travel, meals, lodging, registration and mileage expenses for the following
Supervisors and staff to attend the 2016 Annual Mississippi Association of Planning and Developing Districts Conference in Biloxi, MS on May 3-6, 2016. - County Authorize the claims and Development Districts Conference in Biloxi, MS on May 3-6, 2016.
- Insurance Associates for renewal of the Simpson County Fire District Property, Liability and Auto Insurance package in the amount of $45,595.00.
- City of Mendenhall for the budgeted appropriation of $12,500.00 for the construction fo batting cages in the Mendenhall Sports Complex.
